The dust has settled
Well, after all these months of waiting. I have lost. I will officially be out of job in January 2013. Unless they cut my tender period to 1 month. Mixed feelings but I believe no matter what, this will be a blessing in disguise.

You know..
Sometimes bread is better than love.
Esp when it is delivered to your doorstep accompanied by a cup of green milk tea with cream and no pearls, just the way you like it.
Yup, for this I will like you, once in a blue moon. Hahaha.!!

3Hrs before I arrive in SG
Korean is now 4pm. HCMC is 2hrs before Korea. SG is 1hr ahead of HCMC.
Guess what time is it?
Time to adjust back my clock.
Only transfers of more than 8hrs are allowed out of airport.
Make the best out of it then.

Moment to remember..
Climbing all the way to Seoul tower durin sunset. It was a beautifully sweet mistake.
Mistake because I thought the initial stairs will be taking me to just a flight of stairs higher. Not to where Seoul tower starts.
Beautiful because of the colours during sunset.
I'm so ready to climb Mt.Everest now!! Haha..
I was originally all the way down there..

Then still way down..

Enjoying the view.. yah rite. More of trying to catch a breather.

And the Sun sets..

And finally there.

Day 6 - Jeju
Now, sitting by the widow of the guesthouse at the Northeasten part of Jeju. Looking out at the blue ocen, listening to the strong winds and the soft jazz music in the background. This had always been my idea of a perfect home.
Will I get to own 1 someday? Have a little b&b in the middle of nowhere with great views and a few large dogs.

Day 1 to 2 @ Busan
Well, since I wasn't too alone and was too tired mentally and physically, I didnt manage to blog at the instance.
Day 1 Saturday
Arrived at Gimme airport on time and wanted to pick up my prereserved smartphone and SIM card at ROaming only to find up that i reserved for Gimpo Airport instead. Hence I'm phoneless. But the good thing about Busan was that they have this Busan Dynamic wifi service at cafes and my hotel so I actually managed to save some money. I took the light rail to Sasang Metro station, change to line 2 heading towards Seomyeong, change to line 1 and drop at Beomil station. Found the correct exit and walk to my hotel. I started doubting myself as reviews showed tt the accomodation is very hard to find. So after a while I asked this uncle outside a restaurant. He directs me to walk back and turn left and said it's there. I went and couldn't find it. So I asked another uncle sitting inside a light shop. He took me straight, turn left and point me to the entrance. It is just 2 doors from the pork bone soup restaurant that I was originally at. -_-!
Anyway, since I was too early (9am), the receptionist was not there yet. So after some confusion with the girl at the steamroom, I managed to leave my backpack there and go wonder around.
My original aim was to go to Nampo dong for some shopping, coffee and then seafood at Jagalchi fish market. But the shops were still not opened and so I settled for a cup of coffee and a bagel. The coffee was alright but the bagel is good! Chewy and yummy.

I sat there for almost 2 hrs waiting for the shops to open. Den I went to Yongdusan park and intended to just walk around and not go up the tower but on my way there I met a Korean guy 39yo who was on his way there. He ask me for direction and I told him I dun understand and kept on walking. He caught up with me and started talking with me and so I went up the tower with him walked one round and he ask me to join him to Taejongdae as he is driving. At first I rejected but after chatting with him more I agreed. On the way to the carpark, we pass by this little roadside stall and he took a piece of biscuit look alike thing for me and give me a pin. Den ask me to dot around the line to detached the figure from the side. If I managed to do that I will get that for free and another one as well. But I was too lost at first to understand what it was all about and I failed.

We went to Taejongdae and took a train around the park and he explained some area to me..

Then he asked me to go lunch with him so I said ok. He drove to the Raw fish restaurant concentrate area and ordered. I Wld never know what to order if not for him.

I felt so blissful.. with my fav ocean infront of me, bbq fresh seafood most I have Nv see before and a not so awful soju! Wow.. Masita!! Despite my lack of sleep I was smiling happily. Ahhh.. Glorious food.

After that we went for icecream and coffee to wash the alcohol away and he suggested gg Gwangali beach. So I ok-ed and while he drove there, I fell asleep unknowingly. After half an hour, we reach and since it was drizzling, he gave me his waterproof jacket and shelter me with his umbrella. We walked along the beach and an ajuma approach wanting to sell something. I started shakg my head while he started having a conversation with her. Den money change hands and before I know it I was holding on to a stick and she was lighting the other end. Ahhh!!! So Korean drama! Hahahaha. My first time!! Hahaha!

After that he suggested driving to Haeundae which is even further away so we went as though I was dead tired, it was only 7pm. We went there for a walk and since it was the Busan international film festival it was really crowded. We stayed for a while then he drove me back to me hotel for me to check in. Then he insisted that I need to have dinner so we went to the pork bone soup restaurant next doors away.

We exchange phone number and he wasn't able to call me. So he asked me to call him tmr when I wake up which I ok-ed.
I finally went to my hotel room, showered and connect to WiFi, chat a while then sleep all the way to 10am.
Day 2 Sunday
I took my own sweet time to prepare and near 12pm I finally step out of the hotel. As promised, I called him but since he didn't pick up, I cut the call after 4 rings. Ahh.. me time!
I walked around my neighbourhood trYing to find the pumpkin porridge I saw yesterday but in the end found a tofu stew shop instead. I ordered the tofu and cheese stew for krw5500 and had a satisfying meal by myself.

Then went to take train to Hae dong Yonggungsa temple which is a 45mins train ride and a 20mins bus ride away. Yah, I miss the car. But I also enjoyed my journey.

The temple was very crowded but I managed to finish the whole area. Asked for blessings and walked out by another direction. Came across a cafe and enjoyed my afternoon tea. The double cheesecake was awesome! Yum yum yum!

I stayed there for almost 2hrs trying to do some research for tmr and finally at 4pm decided to make my way to Dadaepo sunset fountain of dreams.
Dadaepo is all the way southwest of Busan while Yonggungsa is all the way northeast of Busan. I need 2hrs to travel all the way and having forgotten that the sun sets at 6pm there I almost couldn't make it in time. I choose to take a cab from the last metro station instead of the bus as I knew it would be too late then.
The taxi uncle is so nice and try to make small talk along the way. It cost almost $10 but at least I made it for the last bit of the sunset.

After a short walk to the beach and back it was only 6.40pm so I crossed the street to buy a cup of green tea latte then back to find a good spot to enjoy the performance. I remember when I was way younger, sentosa has a musical fountain which is just water dancing to the music with no fancy laser lights trying to tell a story. Those were the kinda musical fountains that I like. So alone I sit, with my warm green tea latte, surrounded by young couples huddled together in the cold and I was feeling anything but lonely. I was delighted and full of anticipation on what is to come.

I truly enjoy myself.
When the show comes to an end 30 mins later I started to look for the busstop to bus back to the metro station. While waiting at the traffic lights, I started to doubt myself so I went to ask this guy who was by himself, waiting to cross the road. He was not able to speak English well while I do not know Korean but I managed to ask my question and he understood me. I was expecting him to point me the direction of the busstop but he started walking back to the carpark and with broken English he said 'too far', 'metro station my house', 'my car'. Wahhhh!! So nice. And I thought he was crossing the street to get dinner or something. On the way there, i was think what a nice young thing he is when he asked for my age and then told me he is 30yo. Ahh. This i know! 'Oppa!' And he said thank you thank you. Haha. This is fun. There were timeS where he will suddenly start talking to himself in Korean which sounds like he finds it unbelievably that I am out alone, with no knowledge in Korean and not knowing the way back. Then he will shake his head. Haha. So cute! I was thinking of asking him for dinner but too shy.. Hahaha. In the end he dropped me at the station and I went to Nampo dong for dinner.
Kimchi pancakes and maggolli!! Yums! And I finish the whole plate. Omg!

Den I walked back 3 metro station accidentally. I just miss the exit. Finally reach back at 10pm, shower and plan for tmr and goodnight!

12hrs before reaching Korea..
Boarding Circle line at Esplande station w a 65l backpack is bound to draw stares from many people as well as questions by the security guard on what is inside.
When asked what airlines I'm taking, I replied Vietnam Airlines. Next qn will be 'Budget Airlines?' All I could say was Budget International airlines. Hmm. Am I right to say so?
Went for dinner at T3 foodcourt with the 送机的. Only to realize that food is provided onboard. So not used to flights that provide food and drink.
Thou the food is so so only but better than nothing.

Reach HCM airport at 10.30pm Sing time. The last time I have a transit was in sec 4. A stopover in Osaka. Today was my first time after 13 years and I must admit I was pretty confuse on where to go and what to do. In the end I just followed the Koreans.
The hour before touching down.

A night spent with multiple bawling babies n toddlers. Not good. With pluck in headphones and travel pillow. Not so bad.
Welcome to Busan!
Time check: 6.55am (5.55am SG time)
Temperature: 17 degree Celsius

The night before I left
I pack and repack and repack as the bag felt too empty . Finally at 3.30am, I'm done. On early shift tmr, I'm sure I will have a very good night sleep tmr night.
The 65l bag sure feels heavy. Seems like I'm gg for a RTW trip than a 2wks trip in Korea. And I had took out my extra clothes, not bringing my zoom lens, less a cardigan, leaving behind the Korea Formers guidebook and the bag still feel heavy. Why?!?!

3 nights before flying..
I booked my accommodation for the first 2 nights in Busan. Finally decided on New Life Hotel @ $40 a night per room instead of dorm bed at $30+ a night per bed. Decided to take a overnight ferry over to Jeju on my 3rd night only to discover that they have stop all Busan-Jeju ferries. Well done!
Now I need to book a 1 night accommodation in Busan. Hmm..... shall see how ba.
Took out my cold weather clothings to air and decided not to bring too much.
Since the temperature is btw mid tens to low twenties, my unicol down jacket which I bought almost 2 yrs ago remains in its Ziploc bag still. When will I get to wear it???
